Breakfast in The Redstone Inn and Suites
Stairs. If you like stairs, stairs to the front entrance, stairs to the upper floors. Room. My 1 guest room had a queen bed w/ footboard, comfy chair, mini microwave, mini fridge w/ small ice box, Roku TV, large dresser w / mirror, rack w/ 8 hangars, small window A/C, tower fan, and small bath w/ shower. Everything worked, there was a couple of water bottles and some snack size candy bars, there was the typical shampoo, soap, etc. For me the room was comfortable. Vibe. Old time 'life styles of the rich and famous' mansion vibe. But it has seen better days. Keys. The room keys have a large pewter medallion featuring the inn. Make sure you return it or you will get contacted by Robert asking you to please return it. I put mine on the front desk as instructed in the PDF file as no one was around when I left. Robert called me, He said the maid had told him the wrong room number, but he should have remembered which room I was staying in [more on that]. Breakfast. I thought the breakfast was OK. There was a good assortment of fruits, pastries ['Sticky buns' were delicious]. There were yogurts, granola, nuts, and some cereals. Coffee is served by Robert, there is no hot cocoa [my favorite]. There is only one hot dish, prepared ahead of time. For my 2 days it was eggs over ham or sausage over muffin or toast. No pancakes or other hot dishes. Not the greatest breakfast but OK. Accommodations. All in all it was OK. Certainly not 5/5 or 1/5. It is rated 3 stars so 3/5 seems about right.

The room, breakfast and staff were just exceptional! I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was. The temperature of the room was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable. Robert was so attentive, kind, and fun to talk with. He made all of his guests feel so welcome at breakfast and went out of his way to see breakfast was perfect and everyone was satisfied with their meal. The food was fantastic! The egg dish, fresh fruit and cranberry bread were amazing as was the coffee which was attentively topped off many times! Thank you Robert and Kate! We will be back and will highly recommend your beautiful, historic bed and breakfast.

The bed and shower were comfortable after 7 hours of driving. After getting settled in the room, my friend and I walked to supper. We decided on Jimmy John's, but there are many restaurants to choose from on Main St. depending on how much you want to spend. We had a good night's sleep, and at 8 am, Robert had a great breakfast sandwich for us. There was a buffet with fruit salad, pastries, and yogurt. My favorite part of the stay was Robert telling us the history of the house while we had breakfast. I would stay there again.

I loved that this is an old historic building with an interesting story. Robert , the owner, who is the only staff member is very interesting to talk to. He gave me a detailed history of the inn as well as Dubuque. The breakfast is amazing & exceptionally good coffee ( rare in America in my experience). Within walking distance of lots of sites, Monk bar which is good for a relaxed drink & close to restaurants. Easy parking

Walking into the beautiful home, being greeted by Robert, with never-ending first class hospitality, along with the comfort and history was beyond all expectations. Breakfast was truly the 'frosting on the cake.' Robert was so kind to take the time to share the history of the home, and the family, with us. This was our first trip to Dubuque, but would not even consider looking elsewhere to stay if we get to Dubuque again.
